Kill isn't cure

Is there ever a doubt that however happy I am,
Melancholy over rides the emotions of man?
When you know you're right that doom is the only end,
Everyone else can kid themselves I won't pretend.

Bright lights - are welcome to my life.
They can have it as long as they like.

Is there ever a doubt that with all the effort I make,
I only get rewarded with another slap in the face?
When all my dreams are left and laid to waste,
And anyone that stands for change is replaced.

Hope fades - the older you get,
the more gets taken away.

Still we go on, always surviving,
Looking for lights on the horizon,
Waiting. Waiting. Always nothing,
And the meantime brings more suffering.
Watching the ones who are always hurting,
Knowing it's them that least deserve it.
But kill isn't cure so don't desert us,
We're still here searching for purpose.
